Women's Imaging Center

Since 1989 The Women's Imaging Center of Radiology Associates of Tallahassee has specialized in diagnostic procedures of the breast including mammography, breast ultrasound, stereotactic needle biopsy, ultrasound-guided core biopsy and aspiration.

The Women's Imaging Center also offers Computer Assisted Detection to improve diagnostic capability. The digitized images of your mammogram are analyzed by a computer that has been specially programmed to look for signs of breast cancer, the radiologist then reevaluates any areas marked by the computer.

Our sub specialized team of physicians in breast and women's imaging is the largest and most experienced group in the city. Our technology and dedicated staff have helped us to become the provider of choice for women's imaging services in this area.

We at The Women's Imaging Center encourage yearly clinical breast examinations by your health care provider, a mammogram every year starting at age 40, and monthly breast self-examinations.

In addition, The Women's Imaging Center provides DEXA (Dual Emission X-Ray Absorptionmetry) imaging. DEXA scanning is a painless procedure that utilizes a thin beam of radiation in conjunction with computer software to measure bone density for detection of osteoporosis. Early detection of osteoporosis provides the clinician means for treatment to stop bone mineral loss, and in some cases increased bone density in osteoporosis patients.

Have you had previous mammograms done at another facility? If so, it is important that our radiologists have those studies for comparison purposes. Please download and complete the release of information form and send it to that facility. This will authorize that facility to send us those mammogram films and reports. Thank you.
