Diagnostic X-ray

X-rays are one of medicine's most important diagnostic tools.

X-rays are high-energy particles with the ability to pass through solid objects, such as the human body. At Radiology Associates of Tallahassee, we use Digital X-ray. This means sophisticated computers process your x-rays into sharp, clear images that are stored electronically. Because we use state-of-the-art equipment, the radiation dose is lower, increasing safety to patients and staff.

Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy makes a moving x-ray picture of internal organs.

A constant stream of X-rays passes through the patient. This casts shadows of internal organs onto a screen. Doctors use this when they need to see internal movement. Fluoroscopic exams are considered to be routine.

Contrasted Radiography

This type of imaging incorporates the use of one or both of the previously mentioned procedures.

The means of exaggerating the differences in the densities of tissues or organs or intraluminal filling defects, usually by the introduction of contrast agents. These contrast agents, or more simply contrasts, are usually given orally, rectally or intravenously.
